Sex Worker Therapy

After working in the adult industry for nearly a decade, I know that sex work is complex and nuanced experience. Sex work is real work, however, I believe it is different from other forms of work due to the stigmatisation of the adult industry and the intimate nature of the job itself. For this reason, many health professionals are not equipped to provide counselling or adequate support around sex work.

Sex workers deserve to have access to therapy that gently and compassionately provides support around challenges that are specific to the adult industry. Your health, relationships, and identity can be impacted by sex work in ways that may feel unexpected or difficult to explain. This does not necessarily mean that you should leave the industry; rather, it may be a sign that you require additional support from a professional who understands.

Sex Worker Therapy sessions are a specialised form of therapy that provide a welcoming space for you to openly explore your concerns around sex work. I take a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approach to all sessions, and do my absolute best to ensure you feel supported and safe throughout.

In our first session, I will conduct a comprehensive assessment to understand your background, concerns, and goals. This may involve discussing your sexual history, relationship dynamics, and any issues you are facing. There will never be any pressure or rush to tell your story, and you will always be in control of how many details you share. Together, we will identify your goals for therapy.

Each Sex Worker Therapy session lasts for 1 hour. Most clients require multiple sessions to support them in working towards their goals.

Note: Sex Worker Therapy sessions involve counselling only. They do not include somatic experiencing. To learn more about somatic sexology sessions, please visit the What the Expect: Somatic Sexology page.
